John Bright, PhD, will present Maharishi’s Translation and Commentary on the Bhagavad-Gita. In Maharishi’s words, the Gita “Presents the science of life and the art of living, and teaches us ‘how to be, how to think, and how to do.’”

Dr. Bright has led Bhagavad-Gita study groups around the world for more than 40 years. In this special session, he will offer a taste of the Gita’s profound wisdom — the deepest philosophy of life and how to live it to its fullest.

John earned an M.A. in contemporary Arabic poetry from New York University. In 1970, he was made teacher of Transcendental Meditation by Maharishi in Estes Park, Colorado and worked with him as a personal assistant until 1973. During that time, he also became the first administrative vice president of Maharishi International University. He later opened the first TM centres in Lebanon, Jordan, and Egypt.

In recent years, John has directed a nonprofit organization bringing the TM program to entrepreneurs, corporate leaders, and businesses in the Silicon Valley. He resides nearby in the Santa Cruz Mountains, cocooned by towering redwood trees.

Henry David Thoreau: “In the morning I bathe my intellect in the stupendous and cosmogonic philosophy of the Bhagavad-Gita … and in comparison … our modern world and its literature seems puny and trivial.”

Albert Einstein: “When I read the Bhagavad-Gita and reflect on how God created this universe, everything else seems so superfluous.”
